I lost my mind for a minute. I didn't mean to say that to you. I don't care. Get out and leave me alone. Don't text or call me anymore.
Have you ever said any of those things? Has someone ever said those things to you?
Loss of self control can happen in an instant. You may not recognize you. An after thought might be: Why did I say that? Why did I do that?
How can we practice self control? Take a breath or breaths before answering someone who has made you mad or is annoying you. Don't answer right away. Pray for yourself and for them. Tell them that you need time to think about what they said and you'll let them know in a day or two.
Psalm 25:28 says A person without self control is like a house with its doors and windows knocked out. (MSG)
